The Holy Name Protects – Holy Name of Jesus Church, Bamboo, St. Ann

Hurricane Melissa brought fierce winds and heavy rains to Bamboo, leaving Name of Jesus Church with roof damage and water pouring into our sacred space. Pews were soaked, walls were stained, and the sound of dripping water echoed where hymns once rose.

Yet even in the midst of loss, our community gathered to pray beneath the shelter that remained. And as we prayed, we remembered the promise carried in our parish’s very name:

At the name of Jesus, every knee should bend

Philippians 2:10

It is His Holy Name that protects us. It is His strength that steadies us. And it is His love that will guide our rebuilding.

Already, neighbors are checking on one another, sweeping water from floors, and offering help with smiles full of hope. For here in Bamboo, the Church is alive — not because the roof holds, but because our faith does.

But we also know the road to recovery after Hurricane Melissa will be long. Roofs must be rebuilt, sacred items restored, and essential repairs made so our parish can once again welcome all who seek the Lord. These efforts will not be possible without the generosity of donors whose compassion bridges the gap between devastation and renewal. Your support becomes the hands of Christ — lifting up a community in need.

Please keep Name of Jesus Church in your prayers and consider supporting the recovery efforts as we repair, restore, and rise again in the powerful Name of Jesus.
